Ānāpānasati Sutta, Majjhima Nikāya 118

October 24, 2026 By Antony Hebblethwaite Leave a Comment

I produced this song from the opening lines of the key section in The Discourse on the Full Awareness of Breathing. This teaching of the Buddha has started to transform my meditation practice in profound ways. This is one of the sutras that Thich Nhat Hanh found so important as a young monastic.

These are the sutras to keep under your pillow, always with you. These sutras will shine light on the essence of living in an awakened way as taught by the Buddha. In them you will discover the true nature of all that is taking place in the present moment.

Ānāpānasati Sutta

This song captures equanimity, grounded calm, mindful presence, tranquility, quiet confidence, centeredness, peaceful awareness, composure, and gentle self-possession. It is an ambient meditation where the verses are spacious and nearly weightless.
